Welcome to the January edition of the TC Newsletter
Happy New Year to you all
I hope everyone had a fabulous time and didn't overindulge too much over the holidays!!
A great time was had by all during the 'Winterfest' in December, despite the weather, with Santa once again meeting the children in Pontardawe.
But now with the festive season over...it's back to work and looking forward to summer holidays.
The children of Cefn Llan are due to have a great time this Summer with the Town Council in conjunction with its partners, Neath Port Talbot Council, NPT Homes, Cefn Llan Residents Association, ARCH Hall committee and the Rhyd y Fro gardening club, being awarded grant funding to build a play area at Gelliderw in Pontardawe.
The Big Lottery Fund have awarded the project a People and Places grant of £59,116, while and additional £50,000 has been awarded by WREN, the balance is made up by £1,500 from ARCH Hall and £5,500 from Pontardawe Town Council, who have also agreed to insure and maintain the park in the future.
The Big Lottery fund distributes half of the National Lottery good cause funding across the UK. The fund is committed to bringing real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need.
WREN is a not for profit business that awards grants to community projects from funds donated by Waste Recycling group (WRG) to the Landfill Communities Fund.
And the children of Trebanos haven't been left out as the old derelict toilet block in Trebanos Park has had a great makeover. With immense dedication Angela and her team from the RFC have begged and borrowed in order to transform the building into a refreshment stand, which will provide spectators and team members alike with refreshments during up and coming fixtures.
Angela would like to thank all the businesses and individuals who donated time, effort, materials, skills and equipment to make this project a reality.
The Town Council would also like to state how very impressed they are with the work and dedication that has gone into the project and is more than happy to donate the building to such a good cause.
Good luck for the future!
And just in case....There are any young people out there with nothing to do...Then why not try...
